Restorative Dentistry

White fillings

White fillings composite tooth coloured fillings replace damaged or decaying parts of the tooth. However, they are colour matched to blend in seamlessly with your existing teeth. Composite adheres to the tooth – it provides better protection against decay and supports the remaining tooth structure. This gives you natural looking fillings.

Veneers

Veneers are wafer thin shells of tooth coloured material which are bonded to your teeth using an adhesive. They may be made of composite or porcelain.Veneers are often classified as a cosmetic dental treatment since they can be easily used to effectively restore the original shade and shape of your teeth. They are essentially very thin layers of porcelain which are bonded to your teeth with minimal or no invasion.

Crowns, Bridges, Dentures

Crown – is a restoration that covers the tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size.Crowns are necessary when a tooth is generally broken down or destroyed and fillings won’t solve the problem. Crowns are also used to restore a tooth where there isn’t enough of the tooth remaining to provide support for a large filling, attach the bridge, restore fractured teeth or cover badly shaped or discoloured teeth.
To prepare the tooth for the crown, it is reduced so the crown can fit over it.

Bridges – the purpose of a bridge is to replace one or more missing teeth and bring the natural look and function. It is permanently anchored to the teeth.Crowns and bridges are more often made from ceramic teeth coloured porcelain on the outside, in the laboratory.Patients are given the temporarily crowns or bridges for that time of waiting.

Dentures – are removable replacements for missing teeth and the tissues connected to those teeth. It is made of acrylic plastic and sometimes metal materials. Denture closely resembles natural gum tissue and teeth. Complete dentures replace all of the teeth, while partial dentures fill in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevent teeth from shifting position. Complete dentures are „immediate” or „conventional”. The immediate denture is a complete or partial one that is inserted on the same day, immediately following the removal of the natural tooth. They act as a Band-aid to protect the tissue and reduce bleeding after tooth extraction. The conventional dentures are ready for placement in the mouth about 8 to 12 weeks after extraction when the gum tissue has healed.
